The Relation between Homelessness and Mental Health among Alumni of Foster Care: Results from the Casey Young Adult Survey by Catherine Roller White, MA, Casey Family Programs, Seattle, WA
Research has indicated that alumni of foster care are overrepresented in the homeless population and suffer exceptionally high rates of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This workshop examines symptoms related to PTSD and their relation to homelessness. The workshop will present rates of homelessness and levels of mental health problems for alumni of foster care and will examine the relation between homelessness and mental health. The author will also provide policy and practice recommendations based on this study.
